An employee is eligible for full retirement benefits when they have attained the age of 59.5 and have a minimum of ten consecutive years of full-time, benefit-eligible service immediately before retiring.
Consideration: Returning to Work After Retirement
Retirees who return to work at W&L full or part-time will not be able to access their Retiree Health Plan (RHP) or Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) while re-employed. If applicable, this restriction also applies to your spouse/partner. During your period of re-employment, contributions by the university will continue on schedule. You will not be able to request reimbursement for any expenses incurred during your time of re-employment and cannot be reimbursed for Medicare premiums paid during your period of re-employment. Once your employment ends, your RHP or HRA accounts will be reactivated, and reimbursement can be requested for claims incurred after your new separation date. For questions, please contact Kim Austin or Suzannah Vess.
